RCS Students’ Union Elected Roles

Whether you want to be involved as a student representing your discipline, or in the running of the SU as a Student Executive Officer, or spend a year working for the SU as either President or Vice President, the SU has a position for you!

The roles available for this year’s elections are as follows:

Full-Time (Sabbatical): These are full time roles and can be taken as either an interruption of your studies or after you graduate

  • President

  • Vice President

Student Executive Officer: These are student roles and come with a £1000 Honorarium that is approved by the SU Council

  • Student Health Officer

  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer

  • Events Officer

  • Societies Officer

Discipline Reps: These are student roles and are supported by the Vice President

  • Discipline positions: Drama, Dance, Production, Film, Music Performance & Composition, Education and Teaching, Research

  • President

    Sabbatical Position (paid full-time)

    • Represent all members of the Student Union internally and externally.

    • Lead the Executive Committee and council to effectively run the Students’ Union on behalf of its members.

    • Maintain external connections and partnerships.

  • Vice President

    Sabbatical Position (Paid full-time)

    • Lead student representation activities within the RCS with a specific focus on ensuring effective student voice in all academic matters.

    • Work as part of the executive committee to effectively run the Student’s Union on behalf of its members.

  • Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer

    Non-Sabbatical Officer (Student position with honorarium)

    • Lead, and champion campaigns and activities on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion issues.

    • Ensure that the views of students from minority and protected backgrounds are represented in all of the SU’s work.

  • Events Officer

    Non-Sabbatical Officer (Student position with honorarium)

    • Lead, support, and promote SU Events

    • Ensure strong student engagement on SU Events and Event Planning.

    • Support Societies and the Societies Officer to help put on Society Events.

  • Societies Officer

    Non-Sabbatical Officer (Student position with honorarium)

    • Support and promote SU Affiliated Societies

    • Chair the Societies Committee to approve new societies and delegate SU funding.

    • Work with the SU Executive to ensure strong engagement on SU matters by the Affiliated Societies

  • Health Officer

    Non-Sabbatical Officer (Student position with honorarium)

    • Lead, support, lead, and champion campaigns and activities on Student Health Issues

    • Monitoring and Supporting SU welfare sessions and resources.

    • Signposting students to Student Health support available internally and externally.
